Moore School's Library Media Center
The Library Media Center at Moore School serves a variety of needs for students & staff.
It is a “giant resource closet", filled with books, videos, DVDs, equipment, magazines, databases, reference materials...so many things to help cover all learning styles and make teaching & learning experiences interesting & successful.
It is a “learning laboratory” where students can practice the skills they are taught in class (using the encyclopedia, using abc order…).
It is a "classroom" where students can be brought to include hands-on learning while being guided through the research process, practice using the various reference tools, learning to use the computers, learning to pick out books for their own enjoyment or for investigating a special interest…
It is a place where students may visit independently as a reward or to just explore, discover, and learn. Students may spend quiet time reading, working on projects, looking at the many different reference tools they may not have time to explore when they are with the entire class, returning and checking out books…
It is a place where teachers may bring their students to work in collaboration with the Media Specialist on special projects, integrating a variety of standards (technology, information literacy & specific curriculum standards) at one time.
E-Books vs. Real Books:
E-books are becoming more prevalent in today's world. Libraries are facing quite a dilemma about how much of their book budgets should be put towards the new reading product vs. purchasing regular books and magazines. We would appreciate it if you would take a minute to participate in the above poll by clicking on the two answers that best fit (book type & adult or student). Thanks!
Happy 250th Candia! This book was created by 4th graders during their classes with Mrs. Noon & Mrs. Lindsey. The theme is "What I love about Candia". Enjoy!
